African Rock Python found in Newcastle

Children have found a 6ft (1.8m) python in an alleyway in Newcastle.
The African Rock Python was discovered in a pillowcase in a lane in Walker, where children were poking it with sticks.
A 12-year-old boy took it to a pet shop, Dragon's Den. Staff were hoping a zoo will take the reptile, which eats small mammals.
Pet shop owner Steve Brooks said the female python could grow up to 12ft (3.6m) and was aggressive.
Mr Brooks, whose shop is in Stephenson Street, Heaton, said: "The scary thing is that it was found by a 12-year-old boy and it could have suffocated him.
"The snake has quite a temper - it snapped at me twice when it was brought in - and I think the owner couldn't cope with her.
"We've put it in a tank in a store room and when you go in you often hear a bang behind you as it tries to bite at you through the glass."
